This is the place to ask questions about dependents, real estate, and other various scenarios that play a significant role in what taxes you pay.

Selling our home out of state

We purchased our home in 2009 in Oregon for 227,000. We are selling for 299,900. We live in Texas and have been renting this property since 2012. Since I live in Texas (a state with no income tax) do I need to 1) have Oregon withhold taxes, and 2) file taxes in Oregon next year? When we rented the home, we never rented it for more than our payment, so we always had a loss on the property.

Should I make an appointment with someone to discuss our situation?

Thank you!
