Mileage Log

Hello

I'm looking for info about the mileage log requisites, I found online confusing information.

Do I need to record the initial and final odometer readings for each trip? or only once a year?

Thanks

Re: Mileage Log

Hi Nani23,

Welcome to the H&R Block community.

You should be recording miles for each trip.  Each time you drive from one business location to another, or away for a business trip outside of your tax area, you should record the mileage for that trip.  Also, I would jot down the reason for the trip and the date so that you have a complete record should the IRS ever ask a question.

If you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
