Did Not file Adoption Credit form 8839

Last year when I filed my 2015 return, I phased out of the Adoption create because of my income so I did not file form 8839.   I am eligible this year for part of the adoption credit, but it is asking form my prior year carry over from form 8839.  Since I did not file form 8839 in 2015, what do I have to do?  Do I have to amend my 2015 tax return?

Re: Did Not file Adoption Credit form 8839

Hi cbraswell16,

Welcome to the H&R Block community.

All you need to do is find out what the carryover from 2014 was and apply it to your 2016 return.  Since you didn't use any of the credit in 2014, the carryover amount will be the same as it was on your 2014 Form 8839.

If you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
