Last year I had an issue regarding my ACA form that I accidently did not include, thanks to HRB software I was able to amend and fix my issue adding the information so easily, and fixed my return, and received my DD pretty quickly.
This year I did not have ACA, I had the same health insurance company for all 12 months, added and filled the form properly, was accepted 2/4/18... on 2/23/18 it changed from Accepted/Step 1 was changed to No Step/Processing... it is still processing with no movement 2/28... I was hoping to receive my return DD this week as it's been 21+ days.
I'm single, have no dependents, have used the same method HRB to my SAME checking account.. any reason why it's still "Processing"? Besides last year, I remember the "processing" only taking 2-3 days, then it would just skip Step to, Directly to 3 and my return would be DD'd rather swiftly... is the IRS behind.. I seriously couldn't be much simpler of a return. I'm a little upset since I actually "donated" towards a "cause" as well as purchased the Plus plan.
I work 7am until 7pm Mon through Fri, I do not have time to call the IRS and be on hold, I am working all day. Is there a number I could possibly call whether IRS or HRB that I could speak to someone directly without waiting.....

Thanks Bat.. so it seems you and I are in the same boat... does your WMR still say "Processing" No Bars?
It's been 21+ days for both of us since our "Accepted" Step 1. 25+ now I believe...
I would imagine they would probably tell me the same thing, unfortunately my work hours and duties require me to be on the road at 7am until roughly 6pm ET, so it is difficult for me to call anyone for anything while at work, unless work related, or a quick call that I know won't take long.
Generally my refunds have always been pretty swiftly, worry free, I'm not even looking at much of a return.. being Single, 0 dependents. So not sure what the deal is this year, if it goes past 28 days I may have to make that call.
What exactly did they say regarding that "waiting" period it sounded like they told you? Being reviewed, ID verification? I think for most of us who have used HRB for 10+ years, and possibly same DD method, literally same bank account, would be the EASY ones to take care of... I know we get worried about this and before we know it we have our return and don't come back online or care... but hopefully we get some real updates, or our returns ASAP.. and I will be sure to at least document the time I received, and any reasoning for a delay if noted... thanks again for your reply, lets stick together on this.. I filed on Sunday 2/4 (after 11am) but it said Accepted 2/24.. "Allow 21 days".. it changed from Step 1 to No Bars/Processing Friday 2/23... obviously they finally got to me.. but seriously, what could be the hold up lol... I did my return with
HRB Plus, it said it was 100% accurate and guaranteed... so how could it possibly be wrong... I KNOW for a fact this sure there is NOTHING missing on my end.

Pretty strange. Only thing I could think of is I had the same job from Jan to Sept, switched to somewhere else for 2 months Oct-Nov, and now at my new job I started Dec 4 (2017).. so I had 3 pain in the butt W2's to fill out, but everything was proper, and like I said HRB Plus said 100% satisfaction and accuracy or whatever.
I am here in NJ, I did not gross much last year, not waiting on much in return.. my sister filed on 2/12 and got hers back already... did the same thing as me, HRB (not even plus), DD... ridiculous. Like I said literally not waiting on much, cannot figure out what the possible hold up could be.. as of 3/2 still same nonsense, no change, no DD. It is only 6am ET here in NJ.... but, last week it updated to Processing on a Friday, highly unlikely they would need me to verify ID since I've done the same HRB > Bank for 10+ years... they are idiots if they gave out my return to someone else... really hoping to be Process Completed over the weekend and get DD by Monday/Tuesday.

I've had the same issue. filed on 2/5 and it's now 3/1. I even redid the application per the suggestion of the rep from H&R block. I finally got a response from a supervisor and they stated that there's a "system issue" and that there was no ETA as to when that will be resolved. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one but I really wish H&R block would give me a better response. Needless to say I will not be going back to them next year. This is unacceptable! I'm about to go to the BBB but not sure they'll do anything.

"System Error" lol... they said that to my grandma last March after she filed at our local HRB office... said it was a new girl there that she never dealt with.. and always went there in person with my grandfather and filed Jointly, or whatever married people do. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away in Feb 17.. the girl botched something, because my Grandma waited until about May until she finally got her return, she kept calling and asking and they said "due to your circumstances and loss there need to be revisions..." Which was nonsense, she even said "He was alive all of 2016! And the refund gets refunded to her bank account, not his!"
I guess I could understand if he had passed away in Dec of 16, but it seems odd. I'm not sure if it's HRB or the IRS, but the past few years have been horrible. My sister and I always use the HRB website, I even purchased the Plus package for $14.99.. next time I do this I'm going to opt in for one of those instant refunds and tell them to just keep or sent a portion to a charity... I'm not waiting on much, I just want what's mine back, and to stop worrying about if something went "wrong"... it just lurks in the back of my mind the IRS is going to eventually send me a letter asking for something... but god knows what.
It's now 3/3, almost a complete month since I filed and accepted, and over a week with the "bar" stating "Processing" w/ No Steps.

Looks like they finally fixed the glitch. Got my federal return accepted by the IRS but now I get to wait at least an extra 10 days to get it. Sweet! Never going back to H&R after this.

So I got a brief 30 minutes to try and call the # listed to “speak to a human” this morning while riding to site for work. I spoke to some girl who was pretty nice, she said that I left off my “1095-A” Form/Info.. I said “Uhh I know exactly what that is, I did not have a plan from HealthMarket last year.. I did in 2016, not 2017 though!” Of course she replied well take it up with them, you will be getting a letter (received today when I got home after my 13 hour shift).
She said I would need to fill out the 8962 form or whatever, not “amending” my E-File, but just adding the information.
So I logged onto HealthMarketPlace.gov and what do you know.. they had a PDF file for me for 2017, for 2 months of coverage from AmeriHealth NJ Jan-Feb 2017 which I NEVER enrolled in! I downloaded it, added it to my E-File program, and saw my notice “You have to pay money back!” So I basically watched like 60%+ of my Federal refund disappear. I “re-filed”. Honestly not going to argue with them about it, as long as I don’t owe anyone money and I am receiving something back, fine whatever.
The girl argued with me that I did, I said nope, never did. She said “You have no way to prove it…” I said “Okay fine, I’ll eat it this year… for last year because I'm doing well in life and don't care right now I've got more to worry about”. I also know there is noway to fight with them or the IRS, and it's not worth the time.. I'll take my smaller small refund.
However, I did enroll in a plan for this year in December before the HealthMarketPlace Deadline for 2018... just to be safe since I didn't know if my new job was going to give me health insurance, luckily they did, so I never paid my 1st month for the plan (as they say.. if you do not pay by 1/1/2018 you will be terminated/opted out). A few days after 1/1/18 I also called the health insurance provider directly and apologized and said please make sure I am not enrolled, I fortunately got a plan through work and do not need yours. She said okay, but make sure to contact HealthMarketPlace, it’s not our duty.” UGH… so I both went online to HealthMarketPlace and Opted Out/Cancelled… I also called and told them “sorry I got a plan through work, being honest, I can’t have this plan, the insurance provider told me to call you to opt out.” The HMP agent said “Okay, No problem, but you may be billed for the first month…” I still don’t understand it. I NEVER paid, even OPTED OUT/CANCELLED in the 1st week of January…
The girl at HMP on the phone just before said “It looks like you enrolled in December, and you terminated the plan 2/28/18.” I was like uhh.. no, I never paid, I also called both you and the insurance company ASAP in the beginning of January, to be honest, and I do not need 2 health insurance plans nor take advantage of HMP.
She once again said there is noway you can prove that, I was like WTF? The even say they “record the calls for ‘whatever’ purposes’…” I asked her how the heck did I get 2 months of coverage this year when I never even paid for the 1st month? LOL. So basically I've had 2 insurances for the past 2 months, 1 I know from via work, and one unknowingly that I've never used... She said well we see you terminated 2/28/18… I said NO! That was literally less than a week ago, I can actually remember that far back… So I will most likely get scammed for another $350+ next year when I file, and I am sure HMP will not send the 1095-A like they are supposed to either when I go to file.
Ridiculous, honestly stay away from the Health Market Place, Enroll in your State’s Medicaid, or just pay your doctors cash… I know not everyone has employers giving health insurance nowadays, heck it’s been several years since I had, and I am VERY lucky to work where I am.. and hopefully make enough money to just “eat it” again next year. HealthMarketPlace was great when it started, but several companies like Oscar left the State of NJ because NJ is too expensive, and they had some GREAT plans.
It’s sad to see almost 60%+ of your Refund disappear because of the Government incompetence, they hire little kids to work at the HMP, uneducated, brainwashed to say whatever… it’s a joke. They were great when they initially started, they helped me a great deal.. but the past 2 years have been hell with them.. and besides 2 years ago, when I had a plan (2016), I had my 1095-A sent to me via Snail Mail, E-Filed, and everything was okay. As for 2017, they duped me for 2 months. I never had what plan they claimed, obviously never used it… and it just seems like the used what info the girl told me I have had this year… same company, same time period… give me a break already.
So I expect issues again next year, and at least a reduced refund thanks to Health Market Place for imaginary plans I never enrolled in... or ones I never officially used. It seems like Trump may be taking them down soon regardless, so I guess they will be stealing what they can off the poor folks that used them.
HRB has been great, doing the 8962 was easy, I had to do it a few years ago because HMP like always NEVER sent me the 1095 that was necessary, I had to call and request it, but they told me "just download it"... hilarious, because when you are on hold they even say "Your 1095-A should be received in your mail by the end of February!" Sigh....
Is there anything I can do to prepare to maybe fight this next year.. I do not want money deducted from my tax refund AGAIN, I know I enrolled in something this year, and I even asked her "Could you maybe just charge/fine me for January, because February is ridiculous, I CANCELLED/OPTED OUT in EARLY January.. I understand there is a little time period you have to wait.. etc".. which is ridiculous, because the State Medicaid programs as well as employers can AXE your Health Insurance at ANY time.. I've had it done by one employer once before during a company's large layoff period..
