Asking for 1095-A however not covered with marketplace insurance.

I have started from the beginning  to see why the program insists I have marketplace insurance over two dozen times and nowhere does it ask this.  It just says that it needs to calculate PTC and then directs me to fill out the 8962.  I am covered under state assistance and only have form 1095-B and my children are covered under my ex-husbands policy through the military.  The program will not allow me to proceed.  As I said I have proceeded to the beginning and can not get past this issue.

Hello jdeonna!

Welcome to The H&R Block Community!

Please see the following steps to adjust the type of health plan chosen:

In H&R Block's 2017 downloadable software

  1. Go to the FEDERAL tab and click on TAXES
  2. Next to "Health Care Coverage," click Go To
  3. After selecting that everyone in your household had insurance for all of 2017, click Next
  4. On the page titled "Types of Health Insurance," check the box next to "Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, TRICARE, or another government program (Form 1095-B)" regarding your health plan
  5. Uncheck the box next to "A plan purchased through Healthcare.gov or a state marketplace (Form 1095-A)"
  6. Click Next and you should be able to continue your return without needing to worry about the Premium Tax Credit calculation

IN H&R Block's 2017 online program

  1. Go to the FEDERAL tab and click on TAXES
  2. Click REVISIT in the box for Affordable Car Act (ACA) (Forms 1095-A, 8962, and 8965)
  3. Make sure the first option is selected indicating that everyone in your household was covered all year, if that applies
  4. Click Next
