What 2012 files do I need to transfer to another computer for 2013?

I just got a new computer on which I installed HRB 2013 tax software. My old computer has the HRB 2012 and earlier tax files.

what is the procedure to move the old files to the new computer so the 2013 software can access the 2012 files

Hi, Joe, and welcome to the Community.

In your home Documents directory (or My Documents, depending on which version of the operating system), you should see a subdirectory named HRBlock, which will contain one or more .T12 files (for tax year 2012)  You should copy these to the same directory on the new computer.  For earlier years, there may be .T11 files, .T10, etc.

While you're at it, if you still have the installation CD or .exe for the 2012 or older versions of the software, you should install them on the new computer.  You don't need them to prepare your 2013 taxes, but if anything comes up - say a need for an amendment - you'll appreciate having them.
