What is going on.....
I have filed taxes for a few years now and have filed and received my EIC on my 2 dependents for 2 years without any issues.
I was born and raised in the US, lived in the same state my whole life. WHY IS IT SAYING THAT IM NOT A US RESIDENT???
How do I change or edit my residency?

While I do not use the same software I recommend returning to the personal information screen where you enter your name/social security number. There is most likely a question if you are a US citizen and another if you lived in the USA for more then 6 months. This could be causing the issue.

That's the thing (maybe I'm reading into it too deeply) but the options don't really suggest that I'm already a citizen. The only option even close would be "I lived in the U.S. for six months or less" but when I select that and go back to the credit section I get "Since you lived in the United States. less than six months, you can’t claim the Earned Income Credit (EIC)."
So I had selected none apply initially which was what gave me the message of not being an US resident

I followed the directions for this solution and got to the spot where I went and checked the six month box and the other that was recommended and hit next. Instead of saying that it would cost $ 34.99 to upgrade, it said that I could not use the free file version. Please advise.

your instructions worked for me but it didnt change my return at all.
And I can see that it looks like I didnt get child credit last year either.
Am I doing something wrong?

If you are receiving this message try either clicking the option that you don't want to upgrade, or just clicking back. If you are still receiving the nonresident message after doing so, please contact product support in one of the following ways:
