How can I file past years taxes?

I've read that the IRS only accepts e-filing of the current tax year. How can I file past years taxes?

I've found posts on here directing people to buy older H&R software, but all the links in those posts are dead. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: How can I file past years taxes?

Hello AMPedFJAdam,

To access the prior years tax software to do the previous years returns, go to the following link: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/updates-back-editions.html

Then, on the website, you should see "H&R Block Tax Software Back Editions & Tax Software Updates." Scroll down to click the year that you need to file your return and proceed from there.

Re: How can I file past years taxes?

There are no links to purchase the software, only the  links at the bottom to update the software if you already own it.

The page shows the different types to purchase, but there is no way to actually purchase because there are no links on each one.

Thanks - need 3 yrs back software.

Re: How can I file past years taxes?

Hello NeedToKnowTaxes,

In the following link (https://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/updates-back-editions.html), go to the middle of the screen and click [2016], [2015], [2014], etc. and you will to get to a separate webpage called "H&R BLOCK TAX SOFTWARE BACK EDITIONS & TAX SOFTWARE UPDATES." On this separate page, "H&R BLOCK TAX SOFTWARE BACK EDITIONS & TAX SOFTWARE UPDATES," it will a list of different versions of the H&R Block tax software to purchase from, such as "Premium & Business," "Premium," "Deluxe," etc., along with the buttons for [Download Now], [Windows], [Mac] buttons shown on there.

Hope this clears it up for you.
