Could not e-file Virginia tax return due to VK-1 withholding that doesn't exist

I have two Virginia pass-through entities for which I reported VK-1 information.

The only non-zero amounts were in the income boxes. No withholding, no deductions, no additions, etc.

But I could not e-file my Virginia return because:

  • VA - The Virginia return cannot be filed electronically when withholdings from a VK-1 is present.

But ... there is no Virginia withholding. All of those amounts are zero.

Maybe the coding checks for nothing in those boxes, but not for zero? From my standpoint (the customer) there is no difference, but from a coding standpoint, there certainly is a difference.

Did you ever figure out your e-file problem?  I cannot seem to figure out how to e-file in Virginia for a pass through entity.  Filed an extension but still not able to e-file through H&R block when it is required in Virginia.
