Re: casualty loss from hurricane mathew

Hi ftroop07,

Welcome to the H&R Block community.

Casualty loss deductions are only for the loss of property that you incurred from a catastrophic event.  They do not include temporary housing or storage costs, rental cars, or the treatment of personal injuries.  Therefore the cost of your storage unit is not deductible.

If you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
