Why can't I efile?

the only change to my tax return from last year is that I got married (still filing seperately) why  can't I e-file?

Hello Immspry. Welcome to The Community.

If you reside in a community property State (ie: California, Arizona, et al) and file as Married Filing Separate, your tax return is not eligible to be efiled. I am not 100% certain regarding the reason(s), but I assume that it would have to do in part for the additional processing needing done in determining that income and deductions based on community property rules was adequately reported and accurate.

This is one reason. Another possibility is if your tax return contains a form that is not supported by IRS efile.
