I just received a 1099-DIV for dividends paid on a holding that is in an IRA. Can I just ignore this, or do I need to contact the issuing Payer and have them correct this?

I would never ignore a 1099 I received if it shows the information is reported to the IRS and if it shows there are amounts to report. If all of the money inside the IRA are tax deferred or exempt there should be nothing to report as taxable income. If it shows taxable income I would want to know why and contact the issuer.
