Filing scholarship money as income

I am claim my daughter as a dependent and filing all of her scholarship money as income so I can receive the maxium AOC credit. I know I need to file a seperate return for her. She has a 1099-MISC form which I will file as self employment income. My question is where to put the scholarship money on her return as she does not have a W-2. Can I put the amount under " taxable scholarships and grants" even though the money is "non-taxable" and I am just choosing to report as income to receive the AOC credit?
