Creating and Comparing a summary of successive tax years to see the changes / differences

I would like to see and understand what changes in my tax profile as per my Tax Return year over year, e.g. 2013, 14, 15 ....

I would like to see what changes one year to the next.

Could HR Block support this type of comparison either exporting data from "At Home Deluxe" or going to an HR Block office?

Any suggestions would be great as my refund in 2015 was 1/2 that of 2014 with no known real changes from my end, the user.

Thank you HRB community, in advance.

Hi kiwi11,

I suggest taking your current tax return to your local H&R Block office for a second look.  It's free to have it looked over by a tax professional and if something does need to be corrected they can do that for you too.  The software in the office gives you a comparison to your prior years as it finishes up so that you can see the differences in the returns.  This may also be possible in the deluxe and platinum versions of the software, but I'm not 100% on that.

Welcome to the community & I hope this helps.

Re: Creating and Comparing a summary of successive tax years to see the changes / differences

Dear Louis,

Great insight, thank you big time!!

Just two questions regarding the [HRB Office "tax professional" free review based on my US physical presence and non physical presence .

1. Can I take my electronic files for the review? i.e. the .Txx file and/or the .pdf or will they insist on paper only?

2. I am currently in Mongolia and only have periodic internet / email access, no USPS or other access. So, can I upload my .Txx files and/or .pdf files for this [HRB Office "tax professional" ] free review you refered to?

I pray that I can upload, or otherwise emai, either or both these files using "myBlock" the same way I uploaded some K-1 forms before when the 'HRB online Tax specialist CHAT support' "Escalated" a prior issue I had.

Also, I had subsequently asked the 'HRB online Tax specialist CHAT support' person about this but they refused to help/did not know, understandably they are very busy. I also asked this to the other HRB CHAT service (software technical support) but when I asked them they didn't even know you couls upload files... so the HRB CHAT service was a no go.

Any guidance for necxt steps would be hughly appreciated :-)

You're welcome.  Probably the easiest way would be to call the office ahead and tell them you're coming in for a second look and then ask if you can email the tax return files to your tax pro.  Most tax pros will invite you to do so and will be able to pull things up and print through their secure company email.  The professionals in my office will actually ask you to email them a needed form if you don't have it on paper no matter.  As for being out of the country at the moment, you will probably have to wait until you get back because you do have to come in person for a second look under normal circumstances, but if you explain the situation to the people at the office they might go ahead and let the tax pro do the second look without you.  I couldn't tell you for sure because it's not my office, so you'll have to ask them.
