We lived in Texas last year and moved to Georgia in October. Have $10,000 capital gains I am reporting on federal return from stocks sold in May. Am I required to file this on Georgia state return since it was sold while living in Texas?

You could file as a non resident in GA and only show your GA income (that would not include your capital gains).
That would accomplish what you are trying to do.
Hope this helps!
