Apartment Floor Repair

Hi.

I have a question.

I repaired the floor on my rented apartment. it was about $1200 i have receipts. How can i deduct that from my taxes to get a credit for it. Under what category does that falls?

I am using HRBlock Deluxe 2017.

Please let me know.

thanks

Re: Apartment Floor Repair

You will report the floor "repair" as a deductible expense on Schedule E. This expense will offset a portion of your rental income, also reported on Schedule E.

Thank you for adding that key piece of information. My response above assumed you are the landlord (owner). As a tenant, you may not deduct this floor repair on your tax return. You might consider asking for some reimbursement from the owner.
